Bayshore and More Training Program Mentors

If you are training this winter for a spring half or full marathon, or have running goals for any upcoming event, consider sharing your love of running to inspire others!

Traverse City Track Club (TCTC) has rewarding opportunities available to share your time, talent, and passion for running by serving as a Mentor for the 2018 TCTC Bayshore and More Training Program.

The Bayshore and More Training Program runs Saturday mornings January 20th through May 26th. Runs start at 8:00 a.m. with meeting locations in Traverse City varying each week.

Mentors assist in providing a high quality training program that is supportive of the TCTC mission and values.

To be considered, Mentors must have completed at least one TCTC Training session with TCTC in 2017, and/or preferably have had the experience of completing a prior marathon or half marathon, and be able to commit to fulfilling the expectations below.

 

Mentors will be asked to fulfill the following expectations:

  • Promote team spirit, build camaraderie, nurture an encouraging, supportive culture, ensure all team members are connected and have fun!
  • Attend the Bayshore and More Training Informa
  • tion Night on Monday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m. at Commonplace, 223B Lake St., Traverse City (2nd floor)
  • Attend a separate Mentor Training Monday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m. at Commonplace, 223B Lake St., Traverse City (2nd floor)     
  • Run within the assigned pace range, and slow pace as appropriate when conditions are unfavorable.
  • Provide leadership to team in following safety guidelines.
  • Be available most Saturdays and communicate in advance when you can’t (Mentors must commit to a minimum of 13 of the 19)
  • Arrive 20 minutes before the run starts
  • Send out a weekly email by Thursday of each week to your group
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed

 

Our volunteer Mentors receive:

  • A rewarding experience helping team members achieve their marathon or half marathon goals
  • FREE Bayshore Training and More Program participation
  • FREE quality TCTC technical jacket

Following is a list of the openings we have available for race distances including the full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and beginner:

  • 8:00 min miles and faster (5 positions from full to beginner)
  • 8:00 – 9:00 min. miles (5 positions from full to beginner)
  • 9:00 - 10:00 min miles (5 positions from full to beginner)
  • 10:00 – 11:00 min miles (5 positions from full to beginner)
  • 11:00 – 12:00 min miles (5 positions from full to beginner)
  • 12:00 and higher (5 positions from full to beginner)
