Making A Difference

TC Track Club is actively involved in supporting local schools, organizations, and individuals related to running. Through the events TC Track Club hosts, (Frozen Foot Race, Race Walking Clinic, Bayshore Marathon, Summer Series, Remembrance Run, Farmland 5K, Frozen Foot, and Jingle Bell Run) we are able to generously give back to our community. As of the 2017 Spring Grant cycle, the amount we have granted has exceeded the $1.5 million mark! Some of the recipients include: Traverse City Public Schools Cross Country and Track & Field Programs, TC St. Francis, GT Academy, TART Trails, VASA, Hickory Hills, Mt. Holiday, and the Women’s Cancer Fund. TC Track Club also established an endowment with the Grand Traverse Community Foundation, and the NMC Foundation which will fund grants and scholarships for many years to come.

Additional community support comes in the form of consulting and providing support for small startup running and walking events through the community.

Many of our running dollars have assisted:

  • TART trails development and maintenance of trails, including over $75,000 towards the development of the Leelanau Heritage Trail.
  • Remembrance Run remains the largest fund raising event for the local Women’s Cancer Fund, providing over $250,000 to the fund through the event the past 23 years.
  • Providing scholarships for youth runners seeking assistance with college or running camps
  • Race equipment support for small area running events
  • Track resurfacing, locker room renovations, equipment replacements

Two Grant Cycles:  Spring and Fall

Non-profit organizations who are connected to running and walking related activities can apply for a grant from the TC Track Club twice per year. Each cycle generally is open for 6 weeks. The Spring Cycle closes Mar 1st, and the Fall Cycle October 1st.

If you believe you qualify for a grant with the TC Track Club, you can review the criteria by clicking HERE. During the open cycle, you may complete an application at this same website and your application will be considered following the close of the grant cycle.

Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors or current college students from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau County. Annually, outstanding “TCTC Scholars” will each receive between $1,000 and $2,000 to pursue higher education at colleges and universities across the nation. Founded in 2010, the TCTC Scholarships program has awarded $126,250 thousand in scholarships to over 50 students.

Scholarships will be offered during the Spring Cycle only.  Criteria can be reviewed via the GT Community Foundation website, as well as application completion.  If you have been involved in running programs in our five county region and are planning to attend college next Fall, complete an application and maybe you’ll qualify for financial assistance from TC Track Club.

Girls On The Run

Traverse City Track Club is a fiduciary for the Girls on the Run of Northwest Michigan. We also provide the venue for the organization’s annual 5K run on the same day as the Bayshore Marathon, 10K, and Half. Nearly 1000 girls in grades 3-8 participate in this annual event each Spring.
