Why do you run: Running makes me feel empowered and resilient. It connects me to myself and gives me plenty of time to reflect on whatever is going on in my life. Running also instantly connects me to a community of other runners, who can relate to what I'm feeling and offer help and encouragement. It also gives me the chance to reach out to befriend others through running, only to find out that we have so much more in common and they become my best friends! I also like the competitiveness of running, both with myself and against others.
Running Accomplishments: I have run 11 marathons, including Boston, Chicago, Bayshore and Grand Rapids. I have also run many half, 10K and 5K races!
Favorite Race(s): Whichever I'm running that day!
Favorite Running Race Distance: Half or full marathon
Favorite Pre-race meal: Banana or Lara bar
Any Goals for 2019: I am planning to do run the Boston and New York City marathons this year. I am also still looking for a 50K run to do because I am turning 50 this year. I am trying to remind myself that every race may not be as far as before, but to set new goals in my new decade of life! Basically, I just want to continue the sport I love with the people I love!
Favorite Running Quote: Run the first two-thirds of the race with your head and the last third with your heart.
Best running advice given to me: Strength training is so important to enhance your running.

What other interests do you have outside of running?
I love spending time with family and friends. I also find time to enjoy yoga, gardening, vegan cooking, knitting, paddleboarding, doing Triathlons and anything that gets me outside.
How do you feel about and how do you plan to represent the Traverse City Track Club as a Race Team member?
After I finish, I love being there to cheer people across the line. I also invite everyone I meet to TCTC because i think it's be best place to meet active people and be encouraged, no matter what your fitness level is.
