Age and Hometown: 30, Traverse City

Current Resident of: Traverse City

Years Running: Over 10 Years

Why do you run: I run to escape the daily stresses of life. There is nothing like throwing on a pair of running shoes and going outside without head phones and just running. It can be a short fast run or a long run depending on the day. I fell in love with the physical aspect of running but also the mental part. There is a direct correlation of mentally telling yourself you can do something and physically pushing yourself. I enjoy the challenge of seeing how I can push myself harder and harder.

Running Accomplishments: Bayshore Half Marathon
Chicago Marathon '18
Multiple 10k's
Local 5K Runs

Favorite Race(s): Bayshore Half Marathon; I love this running event. I love to see all the community involvement. It is a great run to kick off the summer season.

Favorite Running Race Distance: 10K

Favorite Pre-race meal: The morning of a race I don't usually eat much maybe a banana or cliff bar. Two nights before a big race usually just a well balanced meal like chicken, broccoli and rice.

Goals for 2019: Bayshore Half Marathon in under 2 hours Las Vegas Marathon.

Favorite Running Quote: "Even when you have gone as far as you can and everything hurts, and you are staring at the specter of self doubt, you can find a bit more strength deep inside you, if you look closely enough."

Best running advice given to me: Running isnt about competing with anyone else, it is competing with yourself mentally and physically. Running is about your best.

Dumbest running moment: Starting the wrong way at a local running race.

What other interests do you have outside of running? I love anything outdoors and being active; anything from hiking with my Labrador puppy, snowshoeing, snowmobiling to enjoying all the lakes we are surrounded by. I also love spending time with my family.

How do you feel about and how do you plan to represent the Traverse City Track Club as a Race Team member? I am very passionate about running but also helping others. I want to help inspire as many people as I can to be active and live a healthy life. I enjoy hearing other people talk about their stories of what they have been through and what their goals are. Working at the YMCA, I hope to represent the Track Club as best as I can to get members involved in all the local running races the Track Club is part of.
