Age & Hometown: 44, Kewadin
Current resident: Kewadin, MI
Years running: 8...ish. I don't know, I've lost track.
Why do you run? I run for two main reasons. 1. I am raising two young and very active kids and would like to keep running, playing football, basketball and all other sports with them. And 2. To be healthy. (Isn't that what everyone says!)
Running accomplishments: In 2018 I raced almost every every weekend, not doing too bad for my old age. I paced the Kalamazoo Borgess Half Marathon again in 2018 and will be pacing again for 2019.
Favorite races: Now this is a hard question!! I have to say I have about 40 favorite races. There are some I look forward to more than others but I love them all. Now that I won't be racing across the Mackinac Bridge (which has always been my favorite), I will have to pick a new one. I'll get back to you on that!
Favorite race distance: 5k or 10k. Most of my recent races have been 5k's but for 2019 I plan on stepping it up a bit.
Favorite pre-race meal: Pizza and beer!
Goals for 2019: My goal for 2019 is to race longer distances. My son's New Year's resolution was to run more and to run every race with me (yeah, we'll see how that goes!). So, we both need to start choosing the longer distance when registering for a race.
Favorite running quote: "Just Do It”
Best running advice given to me: Listen to your body. Especially now that I am getting a little older! It's not worth getting hurt!
Dumbest running moment? Probably cheering for someone and calling them the wrong name. It happens so often with me.
What other interests do you have outside of running? Outside of running my interests are spending time with my family. I guess you could say that is my interest while running, also. Outside of running I work full time for Elk Rapids Schools and attend college at NMC.
How do you feel about representing the TCTC by being a TCTC Race Team Member? I am very proud to once again have the opportunity to represent TCTC as a Race Team member. I plan on doing plenty of races wearing my TCTC singlet, encouraging other runners and volunteering when I can. If it wasn't for the TCTC I would not be where I am today!
