Age & Hometown: 59, Traverse City, MI
Current resident: Traverse City
Years running: 30
Why do you run? I run for the fitness, the challenge, and for the camaraderie. Running makes people better people.
Running accomplishments: The biggest accomplishment is continuing to run and continuing to better myself running at an older age. My biggest event accomplishment is running the marathon distance. I have not liked the marathon distance in the past but I'm finally making peace with it. I ran two marathons last year, Boston and Chicago. This year I'm running Boston and New York and I'm really excited about what's ahead.
Favorite races: I think all of the local races are fun. I've always liked the Harvest Stompede a lot.
Favorite race distance: 5 and 10k's
Favorite pre-race meal: Toast, jam and coffee.
Goals for 2019: To train successfully in the winter for Boston and to hopefully run Boston and New York in good weather! I also signed up for the Traverse City Half Ironman this summer and that's a big job to prepare for.
Favorite running quote: "Relax!"
Best running advice given to me: I've gotten some good advice on improving my running form and I've been working hard on that in the past several months. Getting help with form and improving my technical running form habits has made a bog difference.
Dumbest running moment? Trying to run fast after getting off the bike at triathlons.
What other interests do you have outside of running? I am lucky to enjoy a variety of healthy activities. I run, bike, swim, kayak, hike and have really enjoyed getting started with triathlons.
How do you feel about representing the TCTC by being a TCTC Race Team Member? I am fortunate to be a part of the track club and proud to represent it. It's a fantastic organization. We have made many very good friends with our track club pals.
