Age and Hometown: 61. Moved to TC in 1973

Current Resident of: Traverse City

Years Running: About 12

Why do you run: It makes me feel good. It can be peaceful and calming when running alone or it can be fun when running and talking with friends. It allows me time to solve all of the problems of the world!

Running Accomplishments: I’m 61! The fact that I’m still running is an accomplishment! My accomplishments are goals that I set for myself and achieve. Completing my first mile without stopping was an accomplishment! Then my second mile and third so on. Entering and completing my first race. A new PR is an accomplishment. This past year, being the youngest in my age group, I wanted to place at least top three in every race I entered and I did.

Favorite Race(s): Cherry Festival. I have a lot of family and friends that run that race.

Favorite Running Race Distance: 5K

Favorite Pre-race meal: I’m usually to nervous to eat before a race, but I do enjoy a cup of coffee.

Goals for 2019: To keep my times down as my age goes up! I would like to be better at running hills and trails.

Favorite Running Quote: “Look in the mirror. That is your competition.”

Best running advice given to me: There is no bad weather, only bad clothes.

Dumbest running moment: Falling on ice and breaking 2 ribs on a run...and then finishing my run. I knew it was slippery out and did not wear any traction on my shoes. Lesson learned!

What other interests do you have outside of running? I volunteer at Reining Liberty Ranch caring for horses and goats. The ranch it for PTSD veterans and their families. I like to snowshoe, cross country ski, work out, bike ride and do hot yoga. I also enjoy reading and photography.

How do you feel about and how do you plan to represent the Traverse City Track Club as a Race Team member? I am excited to be a Race Team member of the Traverse City Track Cub! I plan on running in a number of races as well as Wednesday Night Fun Runs. I also plan on helping out where I can with the races.
