50 Years & Running!

The Traverse City Track Club was established in 1961. Founder George Kuhn started the club with a once per week Wednesday evening race during the summer. Anyone who came to run became a member. To this day the event continues and is called the Summer Series.

The TC Track Club board is comprised of men and women from the community, all sharingbayshore start a common love for running. The board meets quarterly with additional meetings as needed. Each board member has a unique role. In addition to the executive board, At-Large Directors oversee club membership, equipment management, Director of Bayshore Marathon of Races, and marketing. Each board member serves a 2-3 year term depending on their position.

The TC Track Club also has established a Charitable Gifts Committee. Members of this committee come from a variety of backgrounds. A minimum of two board members serve with five additional members of the community. This committee works with the Community Foundation reviewing grant and scholarship applications and making recommendations to the board for charitable giving.

Meet our current TC Track Club Board:

  • President: Karen Wells
    • Karen has served on the board since 2007, and as president since January 2009. She is also currently the Director of the Remembrance Run.
  • Vice President: Eric McCumber
    • Eric is a new member of the TC Track Club Board!
  • Secretary: Therese Schaub
    • Therese has served as board secretary since 2007. Therese also fills the role of stadium coordinator for the Bayshore Marathon of Races and is Girls on the Run Director.
  • Treasurer: Jim Rossi
    • Jim has been active in the TC running community for several years and is our current TCTC Summer Series champion.
  • Bayshore Director: Daniel Siderman
    • Daniel has recently moved from the assitant director to the leading role of the succesful Bayshore Marathon. He also manages Running Fit at the downtown location.
  • Director-At-Large: Jane Miller
    • Jane joined our board in 2008. Jane also coordinates our club membership.
  • Director-At-Large: Jason Whittaker
    • After several years as the club's web master, Jason joined our board in 2008. While he remains in the role of webmaster, this role is considered a separate duty from being a board member.
  • Director-At-Large: Karl Bastian
    • Karl came to the board in 2010 as a non-voting board member. He oversees our club marketing and publicity. Karl is also co-director of Run for Shelter.
